News & Updates: (permlink)

Tripoli, IA (2003-06-30) - James Parsons, Tripoli, IA, based web design & hosting solutions provider, announced, today, that Parsonsnet.com/BatWorksª CG & Zipweb.net is providing design, hosting, & maintenance of a website for Peace Corps volunteers in Costa Rica & Central America.

Located at http://ticopcvs.org, the site provides collaborative tools for sharing notes, schedules, & lists of available resources for Peace Corps volunteers working, mainly, in Costa Rica. The site is owned, used, and shared by the volunteers and is not an official Peace Corps or US State Department project.

The project was undertaken at the request of Kimberly Crider, Peace Corps volunteer/coordinator in Costa Rica, and Mike Ambrosino, former Operations Manager for the Amusement Industry Manufacturers & Suppliers, IntÕl. (AIMS), Port St. Lucie, FL, now a Peace Corps volunteer working in Costa Rica. James Parsons consulted for, managed, developed and maintained the AIMS website (http://aimsintl.org) from April 1999 through November 2003.

Other recent project completions include a redesign of the Parson Real Estate Co. (no relation) site, located in Charles City, IA, and addition of the Job Board application on the website for AIfIA-Asilomar Institute for Information Architecture.

Version 2.0 of the Parson Real Estate Co. site, at http://parsonrealestate.com, has been revamped in XHTML 1.0 Transitional and uses CSS for presentation/layout. The design shows that a website can be web standards compliant, meet basic accessibility guidelines, and also be visually appealing. The design also allows for Parson Real Estate Co. office staff to easily update real estate listings on the site themselves.

The AIfIA-Asilomar Institute for Information Architecture Job Board, at http://aifia.org/jobboard, provides a tool for employers to post available positions to members of AIfIA, an international organization of web designers, information architects, usability experts, and consultants working with clients and organizations like the W3C-World Wide Web Consortium, http://www.w3.org, and American Society for Information Science and Technology, http://www.asis.org, to develop professional standards, practices, and certification for information architecture & management.

James Parsons, an award winning web designer located in Tripoli, IA, is owner and creative director of Parsonsnet.com/BatWorksª Creative Group and Zipweb.net.
